Hidden Agenda For Flucos School Board?
Before I ruffle too many feathers, I’m just asking the question. I’m not declaring there is one, but someone needs to take a closer look at this.
- It appears there has been a plan for a new high school at Pleasant Grove as early as 2003 (or before).
- In 2004 a Joint Committee was formed and $50,000 of taxpayers’ money spent to review the possibilities concerning new schools for Fluvanna County.
- In the same year the current High School underwent renovations & expansion at a cost of $7.5 million with the idea it would become the new Middle School.
- In 2005 a presentation was given on behalf of the Joint Committee recommending Flex Plan A, indicating a new Middle School would be built (among other things).
- In the same year the School Board considered the Flex Plan A vs the Domino Plan (Build a new Middle School vs. a new High School).
- The School Board proceeded with the Domino Plan despite the Committee’s recommendation.
- In 2006 Board of Supervisors approved funding for the Domino Plan.
Read Flex Plan A vs. Domino Plan for more information. So my question…Is there a hidden agenda behind the Domino Plan?
Plans for a new High School since 2003…Plans and $7.5M spent in 2004 to ultimately convert the current High School to a Middle School…$50K spent to objectively evaluate need for building schools (HS vs MS)…Alternate plan proposed to build new Middle School in 2005…Alternate plan rejected in 2005…Funding of close to $100M approved in 2006/2007 to proceed with new High School.
You tell me.
