You’re probably able to discuss these topics because you’re actually sane about it. My husband and I are much like you and your hubby, we can discuss our differing faiths and views without killing each other (and when you have a child, it’s even MORE important than ever to develop that skill, IMHO). But we have other relatives who just aren’t capable of that to the point where we’re at our wits’ end and I’ve had to set the “no religion, no politics” rule with them. Sometimes self-preservation has to come first
