On the way to school this morning, I was telling my teenage son the importance of paying attention to a person’s values.

• If a man is unfaithful to his wife, the mistress should beware. If he is willing to be unfaithful to his spouse, he would be willing to be unfaithful to her.
• If a man is willing to stoop to any level to get what he wants, once he gets it, he will also be willing to stoop to any level to get what he wants the next time.
• If a man tells half-truths, he’s telling half-lies.

These are just some of the points I made to him, and believe me I can go on. My husband reminded me this morning how vital our role is in raising our children right. We teach our children to ascribe to certain values/morals for a reason. Not so they’ll do what we want them to do right now, but so they’ll grow into men and women of strong character who will take those values and apply them to every area of their lives from this day forward.

We as men and women of character owe it to our parents and grandparents who instilled those values in us, to not abandon those ideals when they are needed most. Voting in the next primary election is a serious right and responsibility as an American citizen. I urge you, please vote your values.
