–George Washington, First Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789

How can our politicians utter the phrase, “God Bless America” in their public speeches yet condone such unGodly behavior in the land. “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13) includes babies! “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” (Leviticus 18:22) is referring to homosexual behavior.

According to God, killing is not a “choice” and homosexual behavior is not “tolerable”, yet we ask God to “bless” us? Perhaps our patriotic plea should be, “God Forgive America”.

We need to repent as a nation and turn from our wicked ways.

Well, Jeff Schreiber, the author of America’s Right has become my knew favorite voice in the conservative blogosphere.

I appreciated his very informative coverage of this lawsuit and it kept me coming back for more.

I was thinking tonight about what’s wrong with our country, and I came to the conclusion that we, as a nation have strayed from God, and we are now (and have been for quite some time) suffering the consequences.

It is my opinion that a lot of things went haywire when we began removing “The Ten Commandments” from the public square. While it’s still etched in stone in various federal buildings across Washington DC, I strongly believe we need to bring this set of Scripture (found in Exodus 20) back into our communities.

First and foremost, we need to know what they are and what they mean. Then, we need to apply them to our lives and our communities.

The Ten Commandments

You shall have no other gods before me.

You shall not make for yourself an idol…you shall not bow down to them or worship them.

You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

Honor your father and your mother.

You shall not murder.

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false testimony against your neighbor.

You shall not covet.

I am committed to posting these commandments prominently in my home and teaching them to my children. These will be a staple in my family.

If you have not memorized these commandments, I encourage you to commit them to memory. Then teach them to your children, nieces & nephews. Quiz them on it as you would do when they are learning their ABC’s or how to count to 10. They should know them by heart.

Ask your co-workers, neighbors, friends & family members if they can name them. If not, give them a list and offer them a free lunch for committing them to memory. We need to flood our generation as well as the next with this knowledge and we need to live by it.

One last note, when God delivered these commandments on Mount Sinai, “…there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled.” (Ex. 19:16) God had specifically said to Moses to “Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children.” (Deut. 4:10b) and then he delivered these commandments.

Let us revere God and teach His commandments to the next generation.

I encourage you, if you are a registered voter, do whatever it takes to get to the polls on Tuesday and exercise that right. But before it comes time to pull the lever, PLEASE don’t just think about yourself in casting your vote.

Think about the future of our country. Think about the principles this country was founded on. Think about God and what He has blessed us with as a nation. Think about the lives that have been sacrificed for us so that we may enjoy our freedom. Think about who you can trust to lead this country. Put aside party politics…think like an American.

Being an entrepreneur myself (and being raised by an entrepreneur), this letter speaks volumes. I encourage you to read this and put a “face” to one of those making over $250,000 that Senator Obama feels the need to tax more so that they can redistribute his wealth…in fairness to the rest of the middle class (”middle class” is code word for anyone who thinks they are not “rich” by Obama’s standards).

Mr. Obama,

Given the uproar about the simple question asked you by Joe the plumber, and the persecution that has been heaped on him because he dared to question you, I find myself motivated to say a few things to you myself. While Joe aspires to start a business someday, I already have started not one, but 4 businesses. But first, let me introduce myself. You can call me “Cory the well driller”. I am a 54-year-old high school graduate. I didn’t go to college like you, I was too ready to go “conquer the world” when I finished high school. 25 years ago at age 29, I started my own water well drilling business at a time when the economy here in East Texas was in a tailspin from the crash of the early 80’s oil boom. I didn’t get any help from the government, nor did I look for any. I borrowed what I could from my sister, my uncle, and even the pawnshop and managed to scrape together a homemade drill rig and a few tools to do my first job. My businesses did not start not a result of privilege. It is the result of my personal drive, personal ambition, self-discipline, self reliance, and a determination to treat my customers fairly. From the very start my business provided one other (than myself) East Texan a full time job. I couldn’t afford a backhoe the first few years (something every well drilling business had), so I and my helper had to dig the mud pits that are necessary for each and every job with hand shovels. I had to use my 10-year-old, ½-ton pickup truck for my water tank truck (normally a job for at least a 2 ton truck).

A year and a half after I started the business, I scraped together a 20% down payment to get a modest bank loan and bought a (28 year) old, worn out, slightly bigger drilling rig to allow me to drill the deeper water wells in my area. I spent the next few years drilling wells with the rig while simultaneously rebuilding it between jobs. Through these years I never knew from one month to the next if I would have any work or be able to pay the bills. I got behind on my income taxes one year, and spent the next two years paying that back (with penalty and interest) while keeping up with ongoing taxes. I got behind on my water well supply bill 2 different years (way behind the second time… $80,000.00), and spent over a year paying it back (each time) while continuing to pay for ongoing supplies C.O.D. Of course, the personal stress endured through these experiences and years is hard to measure. I do have a stent in my heart now to memorialize it all. (more…)

I remember hearing something about Obama’s gaffe when he stated there were 57 states in America a while back, but I never actually heard the clip. I chalked it up to a slip of the tongue. You know, when you call your children by the wrong name but you quickly correct yourself until you get the right name. Well, I just came across the video clip of the gaffe this morning and found it was more than a slip of the tongue. Watch for yourself…

Then someone pointed out to me that there was the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC). It “is an international organisation with a permanent delegation to the United Nations. It groups 57 member states, from the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Caucasus, Balkans, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America.” [SOURCE]

Now, in all probability he meant 47, since he said there was 1 state left to visit and he wasn’t counting Alaska & Hawaii, but it’s curious how he elongated the word fifty-seven, and yet still didn’t catch himself in saying it wrong.

There is much controversy over whether or not he is truly a Christian or a Muslim in disguise, but there is no doubt he has ties to Muslim-friendly folks. So the idea of getting himself confused with the number of “member states” in the OIC, the second largest intergovernmental organization of its kind (next to the UN), doesn’t seem that far-fetched. Hmmm.

A few weeks ago while watching what’s been happening on the political scene at the federal level, I couldn’t help but think of the line from the Wizard of Oz, “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.” It seems that whenever Senator Obama is confronted with something from his past (giving further insight to the candidate himself), he and his running mate dismiss those references as “distractions” from the real issues, refuse to give an answer, or lie.

Who is the man behind the curtain?

Where was he born? His paternal grandmother says he was born in Kenya, but he says it was in Hawaii. When confronted with a lawsuit asking for proof of citizenship (Berg v. Obama), instead of providing a vault copy of his birth certificate to end all questions, he has the document sealed. [the Certificate of Live Birth posted on Obama’s website is not the vault copy and has been proven to be altered.]

What about his education? How did he afford to attend both Columbia and Harvard? What classes did he take and what organizations were he a part of? We don’t know…his records at Columbia have been sealed and the Obama campaign will not release them. He graduated in 1983 after two years there with a Political Science degree.

What about his faith? He joined Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago in the mid-late 1980s. He moved away for a period of time to attend Harvard Law School and returned after graduating in 1991. I visited the church’s website several months ago when someone emailed me about it stating both Oprah & Obama attended here.

First let me preface this with some personal history. I’m originally from NJ and was raised in a much more diverse population than there is here in Central Virginia. I never had issues with race…I had friends of all different ethnicities and did not consider myself (& still don’t) racist. It just was never on my radar growing up, and up until about a month ago, I didn’t realize how racially charged some folks are over having an African-American running for president (don’t forget he’s only half-black…he happens to be half-white, too but for some reason it’s the black part that concerns some whites).

Anyway, I attended a prominently black church for several years while I lived in Raleigh, North Carolina in the late 90’s, and I loved it. I particularly enjoyed the praise & worship and the minister at the time, Dr. Mark Chironna was very compelling in his preaching, and inspired me to delve deeper into the word. I became exposed to folks like T.D. Jakes and Hezekiah Walker and really enjoyed listening to them. So I have a bit of experience in that kind of an environment. But you know, it was not an ALL black church that I attended and while issues of race came up in sermons at times it was mostly talking about getting along with one another and recognizing that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

Now when I visited Obama’s church’s website, it was clear to me it was an ALL-black church and they took pride in the fact that they were all black. And when I read more about their “Black Value System“, I got the sense that they promoted racial divide and it really disturbed me. It still does. Especially after uncovering some other troubling information concerning Michelle Obama’s statements in a phone conversation which is expected to be released through FoxNews anytime now.

Reverend Dr. Jeremiah White Jr was his pastor throughout his whole time there. Reverend Wright’s sermons have been known to be “inflammatory rhetoric” against white people and even America as a whole. One sermon in particular proved to be very disturbing. After much controversy, Obama ended up repudiating the minister. [Watch the video clip on this ABC News report]

What about his record? He was a state senator in Illinois as well as a US Senator. While in Illinois, he voted “present” nearly 130 times (withholding a “yes” or “no” vote). Was he playing politics or just doing his job?

He voted against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act and lied about it. Obama claimed during the last presidential debate that it put the Roe v Wade decision in jeopardy and he didn’t want that to happen…that was why he voted against it. However, even NARAL did not oppose this act in the form that it was sent to the Congress for passage, stating it did not jeopardize Roe v. Wade and Obama still voted against it. What kind of a person would murder a baby after being born alive by intentionally denying any life-saving medical care? Evidently someone like Barack Obama. [Click here to view Gianna Jessen who was born alive after a botched abortion]

According to the National Journal’s 2007 Vote Ratings of the US Senate, Barack Obama was #1…the most liberal!

What about his associations? Whenever unrepentent domestic terrorist Bill Ayers is mentioned, Obama plays down the association. First, he was “just a guy in my neighborhood”. Then, when claims of their working together on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge in 1995 (founded by Bill Ayers with Obama as the Chairman of the Board) as well the discovery that the two worked together on a juvenile crime bill in 1997/1998. Then, most recently it was brought to light that Obama wrote a review/blurb promoting Ayers’ book in December 1997. Yet, Obama continued to dismiss the association by stating “the bombings happened when he was eight years old” as if they were irrelevant because it was in the past. Obama’s initial statement dismissing his association of Ayers being “just a guy in his neighborhood” is a far-cry from the familiarity the two men shared. (Click here to see Obama on the O’Reilly Factor giving an answer for his association with Reverand Wright & Bill Ayers.)

Then there’s ACORN…and Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac…and Tony Rezko… Need I go on?

What about his economic philosophy and socio-political agenda?

Senator Obama published a book in 1995, Dreams of My Father and disclosed a bit about his liberal leanings from his college days.

Two weeks ago when an average Joe (a plumber), approached Obama with a question while the Presidential candidate was campaigning in his neighborhood, Obama revealed his intention was to “spread the wealth around” and that it was good. McCain picked up on this in the last presidential debate and within hours, Joe the plumber was attacked by both Senators Biden and Obama… for what? For being a plumber? For asking a question? For drawing an observation?

Senator Biden was interviewed over the weekend in Orlando, Florida and was asked about Obama’s position concerning “spreading the wealth around” and how it compares to Marxism as well as what he would say to the people concerned about Obama wanting to turn America into a Socialist country, and Biden scoffed at the questions saying Obama didn’t want to “spread the wealth around” (despite that’s exactly what he said to Joe, the Plumber), and that Biden didn’t know anyone who thought like that (re: America being made into a Socialist country by Obama) except for the far right wing of the Republican party and refused to answer the question.

Another interview took place last Thursday with Senator Biden in Philadelphia where the interviewer asked about Obama’s “spread the wealth around” comment to Joe, the Plumber and equating it to socialism and asked for further explanation. Biden responded with “no, no, no … absolutely not, absolutely not…” but again no explanation. Instead he just accused the Republicans for putting out “malarkey”. If it’s not true, then why won’t he explain the comment made by Senator Obama?

Then an audio recording surfaces within the last 24-48 hours from a radio interview in 2001 where Senator Obama laments over the Supreme Court’s inability to redistribute the wealth. He wants to seek redistributive change and discusses how seeking change through the courts is not the best way to bring that about. What’s so disturbing is that it is so obvious that he is not decrying redistributive change, but rather just discussing how to bring it about.

I believe there is a God, and He’s the Creator of the universe. He’s the God of the Bible whom the Jews & Christians recognize as opposed to Allah or Buddha or some other god worshiped in other religions.

This country was founded with the understanding that the God of the Bible was the true God, and they based their decisions in forming this country on that understanding. Our Declaration of Independence even recognizes the “Creator” and the “inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” came from Him. This is what I believe is meant by America being founded as a Judeo-Christian nation.

All over the various memorials & monuments in our nation’s capitol as well as federal buildings you’ll find references to this same God. There is no doubt that “God” is very much a part of our country’s heritage, despite the desire of some to stomp his name out of the public square.

God declares homosexual activity sin. He states clearly in the Bible that it is wrong for a man to lie with a man as he would with a woman. What happened to Sodom & Gomorrah (being wiped off the face of the planet) was a result of sexual sin and following after other gods. The word “sodomy” comes from the name “Sodom”. Despite the fact that God clearly states sodomy to be sin, our culture has embraced that act as permissible.

Please understand, I am not attacking those who consider themselves homosexual and I don’t believe God despises those folks either. It’s the behavior that is wrong. God created man and woman in such a fashion that they would “fit” together and pro-create, bringing forth new life. It’s truly fascinating when you stop and think about it. We were given such an awesome power and responsibility to re-generate and populate the Earth.

The idea of a man performing a sexual act with another man goes totally against God’s plan for creation…just like a human performing a sexual act with an animal is detestable, so is same-sex human relations. It’s not what God intended.

Now the idea of a man and woman performing sexual acts outside of marriage also goes against what God intended. God’s plan is for a man and woman to come together in marriage…for life. His plan was for them to have children. By His design a child was to have both a mother and a father.

Somewhere along the line though, we decided to step out of God’s plan…to do the very things he told us not to do. Well, with every choice we make, there’s a consequence. When we make good choices, we enjoy good consequences. When we make bad choices, we suffer bad consequences.

When we buy a product such as a toaster and follow the manufacturer’s instructions performing the tasks the appliance was created to do, such as making toast, all goes well. But when we decide to make a smoothie using a toaster, going totally against what the manufacturer had in mind in making that product, the results are disastrous.

That’s what has happened to us. We as a human race have defied our Creator’s plan for us and wonder why everything is such a mess.

Now, I’m not saying that every man and every woman has to marry, and I’m not saying that every married couple has to have children. Certainly you can choose not to and all is well. The problem is we have embraced the idea that it is okay to have “marital relations” (sexual intercourse) outside the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman, and then we don’t want to be held accountable for the consequences of those actions.

One consequence of sexual intercourse is conceiving a child. Instead of facing up to that consequence when we don’t want or like it and allowing that baby to live, we have convinced ourselves it is okay to just snuff the child’s life out — that somehow we can “erase” the consequence of our actions. But what we’re actually doing is creating another consequence by performing a second action.

While we may envision what having a child can mean for us as women as well as what it could mean for the child and feel we are justified in making a decision about whether or not to kill that baby, we seldom consider the consequence for killing our own children. And I can assure you, the folks who are looking at us, women in crisis, with dollar signs in their eyes when we start considering the alternative of abortion, they are not giving us the full low-down on the consequences of that procedure. In all honesty, they really can’t…nobody can. But you ask a woman who has had an abortion, and well, it’s very telling. Feelings of remorse and guilt, shame and brokenness, and only God knows what else. But then there’s the consequence of the life snuffed out. He/she could have been the one that would have discovered the cure for cancer or performed some other monumental task or even a series of small tasks that would have altered the future of mankind.

Think of “It’s a Wonderful Life” and how the impact of George Bailey’s life influenced all of those around him when he was given the gift of seeing what the world would have been like had he never been born. If you’ve never seen that movie, I highly recommend it!

So now, here we are…you and I might never consider killing our babies despite whatever negative consequence might result in having these children, but what about our family members? our friends? our co-workers? our neighbors? our fellow Americans?

Is it “right” for anyone to kill babies? If so, then why do we bother having a law forbidding murder? If we as Americans have the right to kill babies at two months in utero, or 5 months in utero, or 8 months in utero, or leave them to die after being born alive as a result of a botched abortion (all because we either see how their life is going to affect us or we’ve lost hope in their future), then why not give us the right to kill them at 3 months old (when we are sleep deprived), or 9 months old (when we’re suffering from post-partum depression), or 2 years old (when we’re stressed out by their defiance), or 12 years old (when they frustrate the heck out of us by their apparent lack of common sense), or 15 years old (when it’s obvious that they’re never going to amount to anything good)?

Do you see my point? Killing babies is wrong no matter how we try to justify it. Many a person has risen above his/her horrible childhood experiences to live incredibly victorious lives. Yes, some kids end up in lousy households, raised by incompetent parents or living in atrocious circumstances, but the answer is not “kill them so they won’t suffer”. If we are really concerned about the outcome of these “unwanted” children, then we should work to make their lives better, not annihilate them before birth.

As for legally redefining marriage to include anything other than one man and one woman, that would totally destroy our country. I’m not saying two people of the same sex cannot love each other. I’m not saying they cannot enjoy the same right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Of course, they can. If they want to live together, then that’s their prerogitive. If they want to buy property together or obtain medical insurance, that’s completely lawful. But to say they should experience the same “family” benefits as those who are married or to equate themselves with a traditional marriage is not right. God certainly opposes the idea.

I feel it is necessary for laws to be passed in this country to protect life and marriage in order to save our society from ruin. We as a nation have already slaughtered more babies since the Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision than all the lives lost in every war ever fought in America since our nation’s inception. That’s staggering.

We have already ripped apart the fabric of our society with rampant divorce and children born out of wedlock…single-parent families struggling to make things work, teenage pregnancies, runaway children, etc. We need to restore this nation to what God intended for His creation. Men and women committed in marriage for life, having children and teaching them to revere God. When we work in conjunction with God’s plan, we enjoy the benefits of a healthy family.

I believe our country needs to recognize and revere God once again. I pray we will.
